Handmade Balinese Wood Cha He (Tea Holder)

$78.00

A Cha He, otherwise known as a 'tea box', is a vessel for tea introduction. According to the Chinese tea ceremony tradition, it's essential to get acquainted with tea before brewing it. We look at the tea in the Cha He and feel its fragrance by inhaling and exhaling deeply through the nose. It allows the ceremony participants to get to know the tea they will be drinking.

Once we got to know the tea's looks and fragrance, we gently transfer it from Cha He into a brewing vessel, using a designated tea stick. Cha He helps transfer the tea into a teapot or gaiwan without scattering it.

Cha He should be complimenting the tea. Tea connoisseurs often prefer their Cha He to be made of natural materials, such as wood. These exquisite Cha He are hand-carved by a talented woodmaster who lives in Bali, Indonesia, and works with local wood. Natural wood patterns, the master's craftsmanship, his love, admiration, and understanding of tea and tea traditions, all combined, make these Cha He so pleasant to hold, look at, and use. Such a piece, without a doubt, will complement a tea, create the right atmosphere, help get you into the right mood and elevate your tea ceremony.
