Porcelain Gaiwan with Handwritten Calligraphy

$34.00

Gaiwan is a key element in the enchanting Gong Fu Cha tea tradition, serving as a vessel for infusing tea leaves. It consists of a bowl, lid, and saucer and plays multiple roles in our tea experience. With a porcelain gaiwan, we can fully appreciate the delicate nuances of light teas such as green, white, yellow teas, and light oolongs.

Unlike Yixing clay gaiwans, which have a porous texture that can absorb tea flavors over time, porcelain gaiwans offer a unique advantage. They act as a canvas that reveals the true essence and flavors of the tea. When we use a white porcelain gaiwan, the beauty lies in its ability to showcase the subtleties and gentle notes of the lighter teas. Against the pristine white background, the tea liquor takes center stage, its color radiating with clarity, while the unfurling tea leaves gracefully dance in the infusion.

Now, let's delve into the captivating details of this particular porcelain gaiwan. Hand-painted with delicate Chinese characters—静, 禅, 悟, 道 (Tranquility, Zen, Enlightenment, Tao)—it embodies the essence of the Gong Fu Cha journey. Each character represents a stepping stone on the path of self-discovery and appreciation of tea, capturing the spirit of the Chinese tea ceremony. As we engage in the Gong Fu Cha practice, these characters remind us to embrace tranquility, seek enlightenment, and embark on a mindful journey toward a deeper connection with tea.

With a porcelain gaiwan as our trusty companion, we can immerse in the beauty of Gong Fu Cha. The gentle elegance of this teaware allows the delicate flavors of light teas to shine through, while the pristine white porcelain creates a captivating backdrop for the mesmerizing colors of the tea liquor. Prepare to embark on a serene and enlightening tea journey, where each sip reveals a new facet of tea's true essence. Let us raise our cups to the tranquility, wisdom, and exploration that await within the enchanting world of Gong Fu Cha.

First Gaiwan

I'm glad I chose this for my first gaiwan! I am still a student in terms of gong fu brewing, but I look forward to getting the hang of it with this beautiful piece.

Game changer :)

To this day I only used glass teapots for my Chinese green teas. The idea of brewing green tea in a gaiwan never crossed my mind as I usually see oolong brewes that way!
Now I am keeping my better greens for this gaiwan!! Sweetens them and I am enjoying the experience of getting used to holding a gaiwan in my hands.

A great little Gaiwan to add to my collection. So far prefer to use it with my greens and planning on keeping it that way. Happy with the value for the product.
