"Persimmon" Shi Yuan Yixing Teapot (ZiSha: ZhuNi)

$139.00

Ren Yixin's "Persimmon" Shi Yuan Yixing Teapot is a stunning example of traditional yet innovative teapot creation. Crafted from highly prized ZhuNi clay from Zhao Zhuang Zhu, the teapot's smooth lines and harmonious shape strike a perfect balance between practicality and aesthetics. The teapot's deep scarlet and dark red color is reminiscent of the ripe and mature persimmon, making it an excellent choice for tea lovers who appreciate the nuances of tea brewing.

The persimmon is a fruit with a beautiful meaning of "reunion" and an omen of "bumper harvest". It is the inspiration behind the pot's design. The dark red color of the pot reflects the persimmon's ripe and mature appearance. The pot body is plump and rounded, with smooth and soft lines. The handle is ear-shaped, with a steady grip and comfortable feel.

The pot master uses vermillion clay (Zhu Ni, 朱泥) to make this teapot. The clay comes from Zhao Zhuang - one of the three Original Mines. The high iron content of the clay gives the teapot a distinct reddish hue and sweetens the tea's flavor.

The shrinkage ratio of Zhao Zhuang Zhu Ni is about 20%. Its low sand content and delicate nature require a high level of skills during molding. The porous clay allows the teapot to "breathe" during brewing. Zhu Ni pots are very suitable for Oolong and Pu-erh teas. The clay enhances the tea's natural sweetness and makes the floral notes stand out. At the same time, it rounds and softens excessive bitterness or astringency.

The pot master, Ren Yixin, is born in Yixing, the capital of teapot production. He has been engaged in teapot crafting for more than ten years. Ren Yixin's artwork has attained a balance between use and beauty. His traditional approach with a modern edge has gained him a steady audience among teapot lovers and collectors. His skillful craftsmanship and deep connection to Chinese culture make the Persimmon Round Pot a work of art and a testament to the rich cultural heritage of Yixing.

The "Persimmon" Shi Yuan Yixing Teapot captures the essence of autumn, the beauty of nature, and the rich cultural history of China.
