The chasen is an integral part of Cha No Yu. It is used in a zig-zag motion to dissolve powdered matcha in a bowl with water. Whisk in a chawan or alternative deep bowl for best results.
When not in use, allow to dry on a chasen kusenaoshi. This helps support the shape and protects the fine tines from breakage.
NOTE: Before using chasen for the first time put the whisk into warm water and leave it for few minutes. It will allow the tips to unfurl.
Avoid using detergents when cleaning.
