"Giant Wheel" Ju Lun Yixing Teapot (ZiSha: ZiNi)

$139.00

The Ju Lun (巨轮 – Giant Wheel) Teapot is a classic design dating back to the early Qing Dynasty. At the time of the Qing Dynasty, it gained remarkable popularity in Japan. The Japanese literati admired its elegant shape, viewing it as a symbol of the harmonious spirit of tea culture.

This teapot's refined shape echoes the traditional Ju Lun design, yet its lines and form have been subtly modernized. Light and well-balanced, its curved handle offers an easy grip. Its rounded spout ensures smooth and precise water flow and excellent speed of pour, allowing great control of the brewing. The skillfully crafted lid and knob complete its harmonious design.

Adhering to a long-standing cultural practice, the teapot carries a calligraphy engraving, wishing those who use this teapot success in endeavors, auspicious outcomes, and a peaceful life – 用之大吉. On the side is the engraver's name, 王萬華春月半山 – an acknowledgment of the skill.

The clay from which this teapot is crafted comes from Huang Long Shan (Yellow Dragon Mountain, aka Ben Shan) – the original mining spot and the sourcing location of the highest quality Yixing clay. Huanglong Shan clay is highly regarded for its exceptional sand structure and plasticity, allowing for intricate and well-formed designs and excellent filtration.

Since the Huang Long Shan clay mines were sealed in 2005, authentic clay from this region has become increasingly rare and valuable, making this ZiSha teapot a good investment and an excellent brewing companion.

Ren Yixin, the pot's creator, is a well-established potter from Yixing with over a decade of experience. Known for blending traditional forms with modern innovations, his work strikes a perfect balance between aesthetics and functionality. This Ju Lun ZiNi teapot is a beautiful reflection of his craftsmanship — grounded in tradition yet modernized for contemporary tea practices, offering an elegant vessel for those who love tea and Gong Fu Cha.
