"Curiosity" GuShu ShuSheng (Ripe & Raw) Pu-erh Tea Cake (100g)

$25.00

– Shifu, please help me with your wisdom. I like Sheng Pu-er so much for its stimulating taste and fresh aroma. But I also love Shou Pu-er's sweet and mellow mouthfeel. How do I choose between them?

– Dear boy, here's something special for you. This tea combines the Raw Pu-erh's freshness and the comforting flavor of an old-age Ripe Pu-erh in one unforgettable tea experience. Sometimes you don't need to make a choice – dare to have it all!

“Do I get to drink a Sheng Pu-erh or a Shou Pu-erh?” If you face this tough choice way too often, keep reading because it finally has an answer! Our ShuSheng Pu-erh is a one-of-a-kind product that combines the goodness of both Sheng and Shou Pu-erh in one truly unique tea experience! There is no need to choose between Raw and Ripe Pu-erh – now, you can have them both.

ShuSheng Pu-erh cake is a truly innovative product. It's been conceived by "Path of Cha" and follows the line of innovative Pu-erh products along with the Kombu Pu-erh. For our ShuSheng Pu-erh cake, the tea master has blended Raw Pu-erh with Ripe Pu-erh tea leaves. He carefully selected the mixing ratio to strike a perfect balance of the tea taste. The Raw Pu-erh tea brings in a strong, stimulating freshness. It invigorates the mind and wakes up the senses. The Ripe Pu-erh tea leaves round out the taste, adding sweetness, a mellow mouthfeel, and a smooth and comforting flavor. The ShuSheng Pu-erh tea has an obvious floral fragrance and a strong, long-lasting aroma that lingers in the mouth and throat for quite some time after your tea session. As the enzymes in Sheng Pu-erh are more alive, they assist in further transforming the ShuSheng Pu-erh tea.

The tea master used Ripe Pu-erh from old trees to craft this unique tea. Old trees in Yunnan are cherished for their tea leaves' distinctive aroma and taste compared to regular tea gardens in the lowlands. The Raw Pu-erh, used in the tea mix, is a 2022 spring harvest. It is also from old trees from the Wuliang mountain. Also known as Endless Mountain, it has been a source of high-quality Pu-erh tea since ancient times. There is an ancient saying about Wuliang mountain: "its towering heights penetrate the clouds, one can't climb it; its surface is so vast one can't measure it." The local Yi minority asserts they have been growing tea on the mountain's slopes for 60 generations, though this may be difficult to confirm.

The mountain towers over 3000 meters above sea level and stretches hundreds of miles. Its lowest point is still more than 1000 meters up. The year-round scenery is shrouded in clouds and mists due to the region's warm climate and high rainfall. Here, old wild trees grow between 1600 and 2200 meters above sea level. The exceptional natural surroundings provide the locally grown tea a special terroir.

I was very confused by this tea, It had no real smell or flavor, my son and I both brewed it 3x’s then gave up, there are too many delicious teas out there to waste time on this one. Tossed it.

Thank you for your feedback, Debbie!

We're sorry to hear that this tea didn't live up to your expectations...

All three of us at "Path of Cha" actually like this tea for its rich aroma and flavor, and we got good feedback on it from our friends and customers (see other reviews). But we understand that every palate is different, and sometimes a tea just doesn't click.

If you ever feel like giving it another go, a lower water temperature might help bring out the aroma and flavors. Sometimes, when a tea is too hot, aroma and taste subdue.

That being said, we want you to find teas you enjoy. Please feel free to reach out, and we'd be happy to recommend some teas that better suit your tastes.

Thanks again for your honest feedback 🙏🏻 We hope your next tea experience is a tasty one:)

First Pu-erh

This is both the first tea cake and Pu-erh that I have tried and I have thoroughly enjoyed it so far. It definitely tastes aged but it still has delicate flavors that are present through that taste. I really enjoy the mineral taste you get from this tea and the refreshing finish that lingers for a bit afterwards. Hopefully I'll manage to improve breaking the tea cake apart correctly to get the full taste from the leaves without breaking them.

Unusual:)

This tea is the best of both worlds – shu and sheng. You feel more of shu on the first few infusions and sheng on the latter brews. But whether you feel more of a shu or sheng, the overall taste is very balanced. I was skeptical of this tea at first, but it turned me into a fan:) I can't say that this tea is my daily drinker now, but once this little cake is finished, I'll be getting more :)
