Chubby Puppy Tea Pet (ZiSha Clay)

Anyone who's participated in a traditional Chinese tea ceremony may have noticed a small ceramic entity sitting on the tea tray, enjoying tea alongside guests.

According to the Chinese zodiac, the dog is a symbol of good luck. They are believed to drive away disasters and represent good omens. Dogs are so renowned in Chinese myth they are sometimes used to vanquish demons! We hope this chubby puppy tea pet can provide you with the same level of fortune!

What is a tea pet?

A tea pet is a small figurine used during the Chinese tea ceremony for various purposes — most often as decoration, but also for good luck or to get the tea water temperature perfect.

How to use a tea pet:

Some tea masters believe that tea pets gradually inherit a soul, as tea is poured atop them during the Gong Fu Cha ceremony.

During gong fu cha, constantly hydrate your tea pet. You can use hot water (used for warming up the teaware), rinse water, or any leftover tea once every cup has been filled.

We recommend using only one tea type with a yixing clay tea pet. This is because this clay can easily absorb oils and aromas. Thus, you may notice your pet become shinier over time.
