What is a tea pet?
A tea pet is a small clay figurine that is used during gong fu cha for a variety of purposes; most often as decoration, but also used by tea lovers for good luck, or to get the tea water temperature perfect.
How to use a tea pet:
Certain tea masters believe a tea pet initially has no soul. Pouring tea over it, which has a soul, in turn, gives the tea pet a soul.
During the gong fu, constantly hydrate the tea pet by pouring leftover tea over it. It be the hot water used for warming up the teaware, water used to rinse the tea leaves, or any leftover steeped tea after we have filled up all the teacups.
