"Yellow Goddess" Huang Guan Yin Wuyi Rock Oolong Tea
A young monk once came to the wise tea master Lao Cha and said:
– Sifu, the fragrances that are coming from your hut are teasing my nose and my mind! They are so enchanting that I can't fall asleep after the long hours of meditation! Sometimes I feel the aroma of orchids, sometimes the wind brings me the fragrance of milk and sometimes... sifu, do you drink wine???
– You'll be surprised, my friend, but all this multiplicity of aromas is coming from one single tea: the Huang Guan Yin "Yellow Goddess" Wuyi Rock Oolong Tea! (And, of course, I don't drink wine!)
The Wuyi Mountain region is the place of 39 peaks, 99 valleys and a river with 9 bends. The mountain peaks, though not incredibly high, are always shrouded with fog and mist. The moisture gets accumulated on the rocky sides of the mountains and then flows down these rocks, to the roots of the tea plants, enriching them with minerals and creating the unique Yan Yun (“rock rhyme") taste for which "Yellow Goddess" Huang Guan Yin Oolong Tea is famous.
The "Yellow Goddess" Huang Guan Yin Wuyi Rock Oolong Tea is produced only by a handful of tea growers and it's not easy to come across of. Possessing the traits of both “Iron Goddess” Tie Guan Yin and the Golden Osmanthus oolongs, it is known for a vibrant and long-lasting fragrance and amazing multi-layered taste.
Five times roasted on a traditional wood charcoal fire, this high mountain oolong came out sweet, rich, roasted with a touch of spice and deep floral aroma. The taste of the tea changes with each infusion. Pleasantly tangy at the beginning soon giving way to sweetness and turns gentle and mild closer to the end.
