Award-Winning "Dragon Pearls" Long Zhu Jasmine Green Tea

$38.00

The Great Emperor of China loved the scent of jasmine. Yet the life of these flowers is fleeting! So he decided to summon the wise tea master Lao Cha:

— Tell me, Shifu, how can I enjoy the wonderful aroma of jasmine year-round?

The wise master had an answer:

— As usual, pick the tea leaves in Spring. Save them until summertime when the jasmine in Fujian province starts to bloom. Await nightfall, when the gentle jasmine flower blossoms, and leave it alone with the tea leaves. Allow for them to seep into one another. Year-round you will be able to rejoice in the scent of jasmine while enjoying the tea. In addition, your body will be grateful for the tea’s wonderful healing qualities.

Being one of the world's largest and most reputable food and drink awards, the 'Great Taste', organized by the Guild of Fine Food, has been described as the "Oscars" of the food industry and the "epicurean equivalent of the Booker prize". Our Dragon Pearls Jasmine Green Tea was awarded 2 Stars at the 'Great Taste Awards 2017'.

To make Jasmine Tea, the tea leaves are harvested in the early Spring and then stored until late Summer, when Jasmine flowers start blooming. The flowers are picked in the early morning when the petals are still closed. Once harvested, they are kept cool until nightfall. During the night, jasmine flowers open, releasing the exquisite fragrance, and the scenting takes place.

During the process of making jasmine tea, tea buds get scented with the jasmine flowers a total of 5 times, each time replacing the used jasmine buds with new ones. This way, tea leaves are infused with an intensive flower scent while retaining the qualities of the pure raw material without additives.

Making Jasmine green tea is a laborious process that takes time and effort. To save both, some producers would use scented oils or flavorings. They will then scent the tea leaves during their processing. Our tea uses only natural jasmine petals and sticks to a traditional way of production.

Jasmine "Dragon Pearls" (Long Zhu – 龙珠) is a deliciously sweet green tea that combines green tea with jasmine. Made from unopened bud and small leaf, this tea is hand-rolled into small balls, which slowly unfurl during brewing, releasing a fantastic taste and refreshing fragrances of green tea and sweet jasmine.

Sipping on our "Dragon Pearls" Jasmine Green Tea will be nothing short of a memorable, profoundly aromatic moment. The green tea brings bright, refreshing notes. The jasmine mixes in its exotic fragrance. The green tea wakes up and invigorates the senses with its lively energy. The jasmine naturally balances the mood and calms the mind with its enchanting scent. The clear, pale yellow tea soup has a bold entrance and leaves a lasting mark. The taste is sweet, with a well-balanced jasmine aroma. Watching the tender leaves unfurl under the hot water caress is a feast for the eyes and a delight for the soul.

Brewing a cup of sweet, fragrant tea requires only a few tiny pearls.

Pleasure All the Way

I tried to describe this tea using the laminated tea tasting wheel that I refer to in order to sound refined. But, all I can say is that this tea makes me weak in the knees. I served it up with an audio book of David Whyte reading his own poetry. If that sounds like a good combo to you, I’ll see you in swoonsville.

Haha, that's the best review! Thank you, Anna!:)))

High quality tea that is easy on the pallet

This jasmine tea is extraordinary with no bitterness! It is very smooth on the palate and the flavor is so authentic! The jasmine is very light in it's color and texture whereas the Jasmine flavor is beautiful. The ratio of Jasmine to Green tea is very good. No flavor overpowers the other which creates a perfect balance. The mouth feel is very light silk.
This tea works very well if you were trying to focus without getting tired. It also does not give you the caffeine jitters. A perfect balance on that note.

A Noir Femme Fatale

The scent of this tea is decadently lush, enveloping and entrancing. It allures you to get into hot water with it in a way that probably only Raymond Chandler or James M. Cain could describe. Once brewed, the pearls don't disappoint any of those expectations you had. It's a sensual, rich brew. But despite its intensity and sensuality, be respectful of this Femme Fatale. Drop fewer pearls into your gaiwan, and less hot water. Brew for less time, then spend more time savoring. If you don't treat it right it, it may think you unworthy and turn bitter or sharp. You wouldn't want that.

Absolute favorite!

What a delicious tea! I appreciate a fairly strong but not too 'pushy' flavor of jasmine.
